Ellen Cooper, currently an executive vice president at Lincoln Financial Group, will become Lincoln Financial Group’s president and CEO following the company’s Annual Meeting in May 2022, at which time she will also join the Lincoln National Corp. board.
Cooper is a seasoned executive with broad and deep life insurance industry experience. She joined Lincoln in 2012 as executive vice president and chief investment officer, and subsequently added the roles of head of Enterprise Risk and head of the Annuity Solutions group. During her tenure, she has been instrumental in developing and executing on the company’s general and separate account investment strategy, overseeing more than $300 billion in assets and managing the Corporation’s industry-leading hedge program.
Cooper is a member of the company’s senior management committee and the Lincoln Financial Foundation board.
Prior to Lincoln, Cooper served as managing director and global head of insurance strategy for Goldman Sachs Asset Management. Earlier in her career, she was the chief risk officer for AEGON Americas. She also served as a principal at Ernst & Young LLP and in an insurance consulting role at Towers Perrin.
Cooper holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Actuarial Science from Temple University, as well as CERA, CFA and FSA designations.

He is married to Spanx founder Sara Blakely.
